Conjugation

sich vormachen

to deceive oneself

Weak verb, separable, reflexive, dative, auxiliary haben.

  • Separable: vor

In a main clause, vor goes to the end: er macht sich … vor. It stays joined in a subordinate clause (…, dass er sich vormacht), in the participle vorgemacht, and with zu: vorzumachen.

  • mir, dir

The reflexive pronoun is dative: ich mache mir vor, ich habe mir vorgemacht. Uns, euch, and sich are the same in both cases.

sie / Sie: they, and Sie, the polite you, take the same form: sie fahren, Sie fahren.
