Tip off

prévenir discrètement

Regular verb, phrasal verb.

  • Phrasal verb: off

Only tip changes; off stays the same: tipped off, tipped off.

  • Object in the middle

The object can go before off, as the card writes it: tip someone off. A pronoun always does: tip them off.

In speech, the helping verbs shorten: I’m, he’s, we’re, I’ve, I’ll, I’d.
