Shake up

bien secouer

Irregular verb, phrasal verb.

Conjugated like take, mistake, overtake, retake, forsake

  • Phrasal verb: up

Only shake changes; up stays the same: shook up, shaken up.

  • Object in the middle

The object can go before up, as the card writes it: shake something up. A pronoun always does: shake it up.

In speech, the helping verbs shorten: I’m, he’s, we’re, I’ve, I’ll, I’d.

Underlined: the stem is not the infinitive’s.
