Conjugation

Keep out of

tenir quelque chose à l’écart de quelque chose

Irregular verb, phrasal verb.

Conjugated like sleep, sweep, creep, weep, oversleep

  • Phrasal verb: out of

Only keep changes; out of stays the same: kept out of, kept out of.

  • Object in the middle

The object can go before out of, as the card writes it: keep something out of something. A pronoun always does: keep it out of.

In speech, the helping verbs shorten: I’m, he’s, we’re, I’ve, I’ll, I’d.

Underlined: the stem is not the infinitive’s.
