Conjugation

Eat up

tout manger

Irregular verb, phrasal verb.

  • Phrasal verb: up

Only eat changes; up stays the same: ate up, eaten up.

  • Object in the middle

The object can go before up, as the card writes it: eat something up. A pronoun always does: eat it up.

In speech, the helping verbs shorten: I’m, he’s, we’re, I’ve, I’ll, I’d.

Underlined: the stem is not the infinitive’s.
